Leo Chen

At the age of 8, Leo Chen embarked on a musical journey that began with the enchanting notes of the piano. His curiosity then led him to the realm of the trumpet at the age of 10. Guided by the expertise of Dr. Philip Dungey since 2021, Leo has devoted himself to the art of mastering the trumpet.

In the last two years, Leo has participated a series of music competitions, spanning from regional to international levels. His solo trumpet performances have garnered him an array of awards, including multiple gold and silver medals, among other honors.

Presently a seventh grader at Open Window School in Bellevue, WA, Leo’s passions extend beyond music. Alongside his fondness for history and mathematics, Leo actively engages in sports, maintaining an impressive balance in his pursuits. He serves as the design lead for his school’s robotics team, a competitive rower with the SRA rowing club, and Principal Trumpet in the Synphonette Orchestra of the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO).

This past summer, Leo successfully debuted his solo trumpet performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. He is looking forward to his next performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City this December.
