Linnea Turesson

Linnea Turesson

Linnea Turesson, 13 years old, was born in Stockholm, Sweden and presently resides in Rockport, Maine. Linnea’s love of music began in early childhood where she was often found dancing or tucked away listening to entire ballet scores.

She began studying violin at the age of 10 upon the urging of violinist Sophie Davis following an introductory course at her school. Within the first 18 months of study, she placed second in a statewide competition and was selected for a masterclass with Midori. The following year Linnea received honorary mention in the Stockholm International Music Competition, participated in the Salt Bay Chamber Festival Masterclass with Carla Maria Rodrigues and was accepted into Stockholm’s prestigious music school Lilla Akademien (*though had to decline). Her performance of Thâis Meditation with pianist Chiharu Naruse was selected for a Bates College classical music playlist for animal shelters. Linnea enjoys performing with her violin trio and in a duo with her sister, Clementine. She has participated in Bay Chamber’s Envision and Kneisel Hall’s summer chamber music programs.

Beyond her love of violin, Linnea is a competitive alpine ski racer.
