Mary Claire Buchanan has studied music since the age of 8 and began her musical journey with the violin. She worked with various teachers over the next 8 years before beginning her study in voice at the age of 15 after years of being an avid lover of choral singing and musical theatre experiences. Over the years, music has offered her the experiences of studying and performing around the greater Charleston, South Carolina region before she traveled to Helsinki, Finland. While in Finland, she studied voice in the Metropolia University Music Program and participated in choral activities at the Helsingin Konservatorio which provided opportunities to perform at venues across the Helsinki area including the Helsinki Cathedral, Mikael Agricola Church, and Hartwall Arena. She now is furthering her studies under the instruction of Dr. Joshua May at the Schwob School of Music in Columbus, Georgia, where she is an active participant in the Schwob Opera Theatre and choral activities.
