Michelle Cao

Michelle Cao is 15 years old and a 10th grader at Newport Senior High School in Bellevue, WA. She started to play the piano at the age of 6 with Yunbo Cassady and currently studies with Dr. Sasha Starcevich.

Michelle has won the First Prize in the Canadian International Music Competition (CIMC), the Franz Schubert International Music Competition (FSIMC), the Charleston International Music Competition, and Second Place Prize in the Pacific International Youth Music Competition (PIYMC). She is also the winner of “First Absolute 1 st Prize” in the CIMC and “Outstanding Musicality Special Award” in the FSIMC. In addition, she also won top prizes in many regional and state competitions such as the Chopin NW competitions, the Washington State Outstanding Artist Piano Competition, Pacific NW Piano competitions, the EMTA scholarship competitions, the Seattle Bach Festivals, and so on. She was selected to participate in Vivace International Piano Festival and was invited to perform at the Seattle Chamber Music Society Young Artist Showcase Concert. Michelle has taken many master classes with world-renowned pianists including Ilana Vered, Arthur Greene, Haewon Song, Robert Shannon, James Giles and Joseph Rackers.

Besides piano, Michelle is a competitive badminton player. She loves writing, drawing, painting and math.
