
Olivia Xia, 15, born and raised in San Diego, California, began piano lessons at a young age and has since become a recognized figure in both regional and international piano competitions. She earned second place in the 2023 American Protégé International Music Talent Competition for her piano solo and performed her piece at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2024.
Together with her sister Olina, Olivia forms the O2 Piano Duet. The duo has won top awards in various international competitions, including the 2022 American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, the 2022 New York Global Music Competition, the 2023 Elite International Music Competition, the 2022 and 2023 Charleston International Piano Competition, the 2023 and 2024 American Virtuoso International Music Competition Winter Edition, and the 2023 American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition. They are the 2023 state winners of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Weekley & Arganbright Senior Piano Duet Competition and division finalists representing California in the 2023-2024 MTNA Southwest Division Senior Piano Duet Student Competition. The duo also performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2023.
In addition to her piano performances, Olivia is an award-winning opera singer. A talented young artist from San Diego, she has won top prizes in the 2022, 2023, and 2024 American Protégé International Vocal Competition, the 2023 Elite International Music Competition, the 2022 New York Global Music Competition, the 5th “Vienna New Year’s Concert” International Music Competition (2022), and the 10th GOCAA New York International Music Competition. She was also a state finalist in the 2024 Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) VOCE competition. Most recently, Olivia earned first place in the High School Lower Classical Voice category at the 2024 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions for the San Diego Chapter. Additionally, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City multiple times in both 2023 and 2024.
Her deep admiration for Chopin’s works inspired her to compose her own pieces. Recently, Olivia was awarded second prize in composition at both the 2024 Bach International Music Competition and the 2024 Classical Music Stars International Competition.
Aside from her musical endeavors, Olivia is also an exceptional student, a gifted writer, and a competitive swimmer.
