Oriana Huang

Oriana Huang, age 15, is a sophomore at Dwight-Englewood School and a classical flute major attending Manhattan School of Music Precollege.

In late 2018, Oriana started studying flute with Ms. Wendy Stern at the Thurnauer School of Music. In 2020, she was accepted into Manhattan School of Music Precollege as a classical flute major, where she currently studies with Zara Lawler.

In 2022, Oriana placed third in the National Flute Association’s Junior Soloist Competition, first in the American Protégé International Woodwinds and Brass Competition, and third in the American Virtuoso International Music Competition. She also won gold prize in the World Classical Music Awards, first prize in the Golden Classical Music Awards, Grand Prize Virtuoso International Awards and second place in the 2023 Camerata Artists International Competition. Oriana is the winner of the MSM Precollege 2022-23 Concerto Competition for Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion. She is also a winner of Dwight Englewood’s concerto competition 2022-23. Oriana was named a winner in the 2024 YoungArts National Competition as well. Additionally, she has received first prize for piano in the 2022 Prima Volta Music Competition.

Oriana was selected for masterclasses with Dr. Bart Feller and Mr. Alberto Almarza and was accepted into the New Jersey All-State band. She has been invited to perform in Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. In her free time, Oriana enjoys listening to music, swimming, playing piano, and writing short stories and poetry, which she has earned Scholastic recognition for in both 2022 and 2023.
