Owen Wu is a sophomore at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. He is a student of Steinway Artist Dr. Yelena Balabanova since nine and had studied under Mrs. Metz for a few months.
Owen was a Platinum Medalist in the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition of 2023, First Prize Winner of the 2023 2nd Golden Piano Talents Competition, and Gold Medalist in the International German Music competition. He also won the Bronze Prize at the 2023 NW Chopin Festival, as well as the First Prize at the 2023 London Grand Prize Virtuoso, and was selected to perform in the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall (London, UK). Furthermore, he achieved Best of the Festival and gained the Gold Medal at the 2022 Time Era Festival. A Bronze Medal was awarded to him at the 2022 Pacific International Piano E-Competition, in addition to the Silver Medal in the Beethoven Category at the 2021 Northern Lights International Piano Festival in Sweden.
Owen passed the RCM level 10 Practical Piano Performance test with First Class honors and has participated in the Young Musicians for the Ukrainian Children Fundraising concert.
He is currently an active cello player in his school orchestra and a harpsichordist for the Baroque Ensemble club. In his spare time, Owen participates in drawing and writing poetry.
