
Paul Wang is a rising junior attending Winston Churchill High School, and currently studies piano under the direction of Yevgeniya Oleshkevich and violin under the guidance of Yakov Shapiro. On the piano, he enjoys performing modern pieces, and his favorite composers include Prokofiev, Chopin, Beethoven, and Stravinsky. On violin, he enjoys playing works by Bach, Vieuxtemps, and Wieniawski. His musical inspirations on violin are Nathan Milstein and Itzhak Perlman.
Over the past decade, Paul has performed piano at numerous competitions and senior homes, and accompanied other musicians at competitions. With 6 years of experience playing the violin, he has performed in solo competitions, youth orchestras, state orchestras, and adult orchestra groups. He has amassed an array of awards, including the Grand Prix award at the International Rising Talents Festival, 2nd prize at the International American Protege Competition, 2nd prize at the Young musicians competition, 1st prize at many state and local level competitions, and many more.
Beyond his success in music, he enjoys doing Speech & Debate, swimming, and participating in military programs. Additionally, he loves spending time with his family, traveling, and cooking.
