Petra Noelle Croom

Petra is currently in eighth-grade studying violin with Dr. Taylor Giorgio and Dr. Shannon Thomas. She began playing violin at six-years-old and currently participates in Tallahassee Youth Orchestras. In 2020, Petra won the Big Bend Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition. In 2019, Petra placed 2nd in the Tallahassee Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and received a scholarship to attend Festival Suoni d’ Abruzzo in Ortona, Italy, as well as the opportunity to play a featured solo during their Opening Nights. In 2019, Petra won honorable mentions at both the statewide Florida Music Teachers Association Competition and the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra John Leatherwood Concerto Competition, as well as a rating of Superior with Distinction at the Florida Orchestra Association solo adjudication. In 2018, Petra placed second in the Big Bend Community Orchestra Young Artist Competition, and in 2016-17 she placed 1st in the youngest category and enjoyed playing Vivaldi here on stage at Turner Auditorium. That same year, she also received a gold rating on both violin and viola at the North Florida Strings Festival. In 2016, she was selected as one of the finalists for the Kids Go for B’roque competition in Tallahassee.
