Violin and Violist

Qiwen is currently a doctoral student in CCM and planning to graduate in December 2022. She has received double master’s degrees both in violin and viola performance in Middle Tennessee State University and CCM. Qiwen also graduated from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music with a bachelor’s degree in violin education.
She was a graduate assistant in MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture from 2016-2017, it is the only center of its kind in North America. She worked on organizing concerts for musical and culture exchange between China and foreign countries to promote diverse musical and cultural traditions. She was also a guest artist in MTSU from 2017-2018, performed as a soloist in chamber orchestra and conducted in concert orchestra.
Her parents are both music professors in China. Her mother is a vocalist, and her father is a violinist, so she followed in his footsteps when she was young and learned the violin. Over the past several years, she has developed a love for the soft, warm sound of the viola. She is substantial to find her voice as a violist.More than just an intelligent choice, though, learning viola is something that really speaks to her, and she is finding it to be a meaningful new path.
