Reena Chen, 16, is from Montgomery, Alabama, and began playing the piano at age 5. She currently studies with Dr. Ronald Shinn, located in Birmingham, Alabama. She has won multiple awards on the district, state, national, and international level with prizes coming from the Bush Hills Music Club Scholarship Competition, the Donna Shugart Sonata/Sonatina competition, the Gulf Coast Steinway Society Competition, the AMTA District and State Competition, MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Piano Competition, the Lois Pickard Concerto Competition, the American Music Talent International Competition, ACES Music Competition, UAH Piano Competition, the Helen Boykin Festival Competition, the Nashville Steinway Competition, and more.
Other than piano, she has also excelled at playing the Guitar. She received the distinguished Guitar Legend Award, issued to only 21 students (out of over 2000 students) in the last 25 years at her school. She had to complete a rigorous curriculum and then perform a 20 minute solo recital live on facebook.
