Robert Smith

Robert Smith

By the age of 7, Robert became interested in classical and video game music—even inventing his own music notation—but his family didn’t have the means to enroll him in music lessons. Instead, he took an autodidactic interest in math and computer programming, eventually making a career as a quantum computing researcher and software engineering manager. Just shy of his 29th birthday, Robert revisited the idea of learning piano and began to take lessons as a complete beginner. Now squarely in his mid-thirties, classical piano stands firmly planted in Robert’s life. He strives to reach a post-collegiate level of musical ability, dreaming to one day play the Goldberg Variations of J. S. Bach.
