
Sahana Saravanan is a senior at Blake High School of the Arts, majoring in Theater Performance. From a young age, she has been inspired by all forms of art. She started learning Indian Classical Carnatic singing with her mother at the age of four, and soon picked up various other styles to focus on, including Western Classical, Indian Contemporary, Musical Theater, and Pop. She has been selected to perform at local, county, state, and global levels throughout her academic years. She has also received many recognitions and accolades, with the most recent ones being the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award and a performance with the Honors Performance Series at the prestigious Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. She has also been chosen for the Florida All-County and All-State Ensembles for all the four years she was eligible to participate. She was selected by Lumina Youth Choirs, a well-recognized local youth choir, to be part of their group. Some of her additional honors and achievements include being recognized as a Master Musician and receiving superior adjudications at Solo and Ensemble. Sahana began a nonprofit foundation in 2021 called the Sahana Music Foundation that has the goal of educating children and the elderly on how they can utilize music as a therapeutic medium. She has conducted events and donated musical instruments to children’s homes and retirement homes in Tampa, FL, as well as in cities throughout India.
