Shruti Govindarajan has been studying Indian Carnatic vocal music under the guidance of Ms. Sriranjani Santhanagopalan and Western Viola with Mrs. Petra Zuckova for the past 13 years. As a versatile musician, she is one of the few students in her school’s Patriot Orchestra who doubles on both violin and viola. Additionally, she is a part of the viol da gamba ensemble, where she explores historical instruments from the 1800s. Shruti has won several competitions in both Indian classical and Western classical music and has composed her own pieces, blending the two styles. Passionate about sharing her knowledge, she enjoys teaching Indian music in her community. Currently, she is working on a research project exploring the effects of different ragas on mental health.
