Sitong Liu

Born in Guangzhou, China to an artistic family, emerging lyric soprano Sitong Liu comes from a diverse background in performance and teaching artistry. Her proficiency across various aspects of her field has paved the way for a multifaceted career, encompassing education and performances with esteemed organizations across the United States, Australia, and China, including Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, Mediterranean Opera Studio and Festival. Remembered for her crystal-clear voice, characterized by both brilliant radiance and powerful richness, she is equally acclaimed for her genuine dramatic acting and captivating stage presence with a remarkable adaptability spanning genres and characters.

She has recently earned D.M.A. (Doctor of Musical Arts) in Voice performance from the University of Michigan, studying with Stanford Olsen. Sitong has a wide variety of performance experience and has participated in public and private masterclasses in China, United States, Europe, and Australia. In 2022, she appeared as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and appeared as Donna Anna again in the production of Don Giovanni under the baton of Martin Katz and under direction of Mo Zhou in 2023. She has previously made her Donna Anna debut in Australia, then in Italy. Her other operatic roles on stage include 1st Lady (Opera Australia revival production of Die Zauberflöte), Micaëla (Carmen), Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore), Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Satirino (La Calisto). She completed her Master of Music Studies from Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she received several scholarships for her academic and musical excellence, and earned her bachelor’s degree, Cum Laude, from California State University Fullerton, having been inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.

With a fervent passion for vocal performing, she has spent the past decade not only refining her craft but also sharing her expertise through teaching voice, singing diction in various languages, conducting performance workshops, and instructing in piano, music theory, and musicianship across the U.S., Australia, and China. For the past four years, she served as a graduate student instructor at the University of Michigan, where she imparted her knowledge in voice, singing diction, and performance workshops.
