Sophia Ren is a 15-year-old from Los Angeles, California. She started learning flute at the age of seven under the instruction of Bolin Pan. Since then, she has received high distinction such as multiple 1st Place Awards from the Southwestern Youth Music Festival, 1st Place in the Music Teachers’ Association of California VOCE Regionals, a finalist in the prestigious VOCE State Finals Competition, 1st Place with Regional Honors in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, 1st Place in the Southern California Junior Bach Complete Works Audition, 2nd Place in the Fall 2020 American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, 2nd Place in the Fall 2022 American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, 2nd Place in the 2023 American Protégé International Woodwinds and Brass Competition, Level Advanced in the Certificate of Merit by the Music Teachers’ Association of California. She is now playing First Flute and First Piccolo for the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) Sinfonia Orchestra.
