Sophia Bian

Sophia, 15, is currently a sophomore in high school. She has played the flute and piccolo since 2017 and studied privately since 2020. Since then, she has played in various bands and orchestras, serving in several positions including the principal 1st, 2nd, and piccolo positions. Besides her two wind instruments, she also plays piano and loves exercising her mind with music theory. She graduated the Music Teacher’s Association of California’s Certificate of Merit Piano Curriculum in 2022 with the highest scores in all categories, a 99% in Ear Training/Theory, and State Honors. Now, she enjoys sightreading Beethoven’s piano sonatas in her free time and primarily practices her piccolo and flute. Outside of playing her instruments, she enjoys CAD, film literature, teaching, and is an avid Star Wars and Marvel fan.
