Sophia Chen is an 11-year-old musician with a deep passion for both the piano and violin. She began her musical journey at the age of 4 with the piano, quickly developing a natural ear for music and mastering a range of melodies and harmonies. Her love for music has only grown over the years as she continues to refine her skills.
At the age of 8, Sophia expanded her musical talents by picking up the violin. The expressive sound of the instrument captivated her, and she has since become a dedicated and skilled violinist. Sophia’s commitment to her music is evident in her performances and continuous pursuit of excellence.
In 2024, Sophia reached significant milestones in her musical education. She passed the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Piano Solo Level 6 exam, a remarkable achievement that reflects her advanced technical skills and musical maturity. She also successfully completed the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Piano Level 5 exam, demonstrating her versatility and proficiency across both instruments.
Additionally, in 2024, Sophia achieved full marks on the NYSSMA Violin Solo Level 4 exam, showcasing her technical precision and musical expression on the violin. Her dedication to mastering both instruments has made her a standout performer.
Currently, Sophia is an active member of her middle school’s Chamber Orchestra, where she plays an integral role in ensemble performances. She is also a proud participant in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, where she continues to grow as a musician, collaborating with other talented young artists in both large and small group settings.
Sophia has participated in numerous recitals and performances, where she impresses audiences with her musicality and ability to convey emotion through her playing. Whether performing on the piano or violin, she continually demonstrates her growing skill, passion, and commitment to her craft.
