Sophie Kou started her music journey with piano in kindergarten and passed ABRSM Piano level 8 with merit at age 12. She won several awards (1st and 3rd) at the San Mateo County Piano Competition and the Peninsula Piano Competition in 2016-2019, and won 1st place in the 2024 Charleston 20th Century Music Competition. She started cello when she was 7, then joined the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra at 9 and is now in the Senior orchestra.
