Soyoung Bak, 17, is a senior at Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California. She studies clarinet with Hongsik Park, a member of the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir. Soyoung has a keen interest in serving the local community. Prior to the COVID pandemic, she has participated in monthly chamber activities through a nonprofit community outreach program called Me&We Chamber and helped bring music to the elderly at a skilled nursing facility. In terms of musical accomplishments, she has been selected to participate in California’s All-State festival, California’s All Southern band, and Ventura County Honor Band. She is currently 1st clarinet in West Hills Presbyterian Church Youth Orchestra. She has won first place for Southwestern Youth Music Festival, Second Prize for Great Composers Artist of the Year, and Third Prize for Enkor International Competition. She is also a founder and the co-president of a non-profit music organization, Project: Peace by Piece.
