Tai-Chi Chen

Tai-Chi Chen has played cello since his first grade music class. In third grade, he began studying with Professor Xinhua Ma of the Shanghai Conservatory of music. Since then, he’s had masterclasses with staff from the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, renowned cellist Martti Roussi, and staff from the Interlochen Arts Academy. He is the first chair cellist in the Shanghai American School Symphony orchestra and Asia Pacific Activity Council (APAC). In the past, he has attended the Tanglewoods and Interlochen art festivals, performing chamber and solo pieces. In addition to holding a blue ribbon in performance from the Association for music in International Schools, he also holds a distinction Performance Diploma from the Royal Board of Music. He currently attends the Shanghai American School.
