Thanapol Phosut

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Thanapol Phosut has studied at the secondary school level and performed in the school symphonic band, Ratwinit Bangkaeo Wind Symphony. In the school symphonic band, he practiced hard, as the band was competing at the national level; they went on to win first prize. He was chosen to play solo in the symphonic band when he was in grade 8, and in his sophomore year of high school, he was Tuba and Euphonium section leader. For his senior year, he was selected to be a bandleader. As a bandleader, Thanapol Phosut responds to lead the brass section warm-up and band warm-up before teachers take over. He also has a chance to manage non-music duty for the band, including scheduling, band documents, and instrumental managing.
Thanapol studied euphonium with Mr. Thunyawat Thangtrakul at Chulalongkorn University. He has participated in a band competition with Suthi-Wararam Wind Ensemble and won the first prize in November 2015. In January 2017, he participated in SET Competition (Thai Musician Youth Solo Competition) organized by Mahidol University, in which he was one of the finalists and won a silver medal. In June 2017, He participated in Low Brass Festival and Competition Thailand 2017 organized by Rangsit University, in which He was one of the finalists. In the fall of 2018, He was the principal euphonium in the University of Northern Colorado Wind Ensemble. In June 2018, He participated in IET Competition (International Euphonium and Tuba Festival) and won second place in the Euphonium artist division. In October 2018, he was a finalist at the Southard Competition organized by the University of Northern Colorado.
In 2017 Thanapol was given an opportunity to attend the University of Northern Colorado and held a very successful fundraising concert to help fund his travel and education. The concert was called “A Road to UNCo”. At the time, he was a second-year at the Division of Music Education, Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. Pursuing a dual Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Performance at the University of Northern Colorado as of Fall 2017 as part of an agreement between the University of Northern Colorado and Chulalongkorn University. At the University of Northern Colorado, Thanapol studied euphonium with Dr. Nathaniel Wickham.
Thanapol is a Master’s degree student at the University of Southern Mississippi, studying with. Dr. Richard Perry in music performance, with Graduate Assistantship. At the University of Southern Mississippi, he teaches music lessons to major and non-major students, performs and conducts in the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble and the Tuba-Euphonium Choir, is an assistant in the Brass Methodology class, and is a member of the Live Stream Team, providing live stream assistance for student and faculty performances at the school. He won the Wind, Brass, and Percussion Concerto in Fall 2020 and performed Symphonic Variants by James Curnow with USM wind Ensemble in Spring 2021. In February 2022, Thanapol was in the finalist SERTEC competition artist division. In April 2022, Thanapol won first place in The New York Laureate International Music Competition in the solo music category. Currently, Thanapol Phosut was accepted to the DMA program at George Mason University, beginning Fall 2022.
