
Tyler Wu is from Maryland and has been studying piano under the tutelage of Dr. Bok Hwa Kim since the age of six. Having developed a passion for piano and a love for the process of striving for excellence over the years, Tyler has earned high recognition at public performances as well as competitive events. His more recent awards include first-prize placements in the Maryland State Gertrude S. Brown Memorial Piano Concerto Competition (2022), the Maryland State Miriam S. Gottlieb Memorial Piano Competition (2023), and the Maryland State Piano Solo Festival (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). He was also last year’s winner and scholarship recipient of the Maryland State High School Performance Award, Greater Columbia. This year, Tyler also secured first honorable mention in the 2024 Elizabeth R. Davis Memorial Piano Competition. In addition to having piano and classical music as an integral part of his life and identity, Tyler is also a proud saxophone section leader in his high school competitive marching band. He also enjoys exploring science and relaxing with friends.
