Vijayan Sriram

Vijayan Sriram is a 15-year-old music enthusiast from Chandler, Arizona, USA. Vijayan’s passion for music led him to gain experience playing four musical instruments, namely Oboe, Piano, English Horn, and an Indian percussion called Mridangam. His love for the Oboe is visible from his four years of dedicated training under Dr. Charlotte Ethington, which empowered him to be selected for four consecutive years in the Arizona All-State Honor Band (Middle School) and Arizona All-Region Band (High School). In 2021, he received the “Student of the Year” award for Oboe for his grade level in his school. His adoration for Oboe led him to learn the English Horn, an instrument belonging to the same Oboe family. He was also a proud member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

His musical journey started with the Piano, in which he has ten years of experience. He received the “Facilitator of the Year” award for 2022 from the Youth Artists Development Association, Arizona, for facilitating the Piano Do It Daily Sessions. He is also the proud recipient of the “Young Composer” award from Yamaha in 2018. For more than six years, he has been training on the Indian percussion called the Mridangam. Playing musical instruments is Vijayan’s happy place, and he wants to help children who cannot afford music lessons enjoy the peace and joy that music education offers. So, in 2023, he started a non-profit organization called Music Academia that provides free music lessons for underprivileged kids.
