
Wenjun Xia is a pianist whose musical journey is defined by passion and dedication. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2014, studying under Associate Professor Yumeng Chen. Following her undergraduate studies, Wenjun pursued further excellence in piano performance at the renowned École Normale de Musique in Paris, under the mentorship of Professor Jacques Lagarde, a distinguished student of Auther Rubinstein. Subsequently, she was awarded a full scholarship to Northern Illinois University, where she served as a Graduate Assistant and completed her Master of Music degree under the guidance of Distinguished Teaching Professor William Goldenberg. Wenjun is currently in her second year of a Doctoral degree in Musical Arts at West Virginia University and continues to refine her craft under the mentorship of Professor Peter Amstutz, a student of the legendary Leon Fleisher.
Wenjun’s performances have graced prestigious venues worldwide, including the Alfred Cortot Concert Hall, the Cathedral of Sainte Croix des Arméniens in Paris, and the Shanghai Concert Hall, among others. Wenjun has participated in numerous international piano competitions, such as the 6th WPTA Finland Piano Competition, Chicago International Music Competition in 2018, and the Great Masters International Piano Competition Vladimir Horowitz in 2021, etc.
Throughout her career, Wenjun has achieved significant milestones. She won the NIU concerto competition in 2020, Following her victory, she performed Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 with the NIU Symphony Orchestra in Feb 2020. More recently, she was honored as a winner in the WVU Young Artist Competition in January 2024.
