William Jiang, from Richmond, VA, is currently a 8th grade student. He began his piano study at age 7. Since then he has participated in region RMTA festivals and has won in 2020 (Sonata) and 2021 (Bach). Most recently William won 1st place in 2024 (Sonata Beethoven) and 1st place 2025 (Bach). From summer 2023, William started learning from teacher Ruta Smedina-Starke and has been enjoying playing classical and contemporary music. Besides playing piano, William also enjoys playing French Horn and is the pianist for the Moody Middle School Jazz Band.
