Woojin Oh

Woojin Oh, 12 years old, is a seventh-grade student at Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco, Texas. His journey with cello began at the age of 9. During his 5th and 6th-grade, he actively participated in the Irvine Honor Orchestra sponsored by the Irvine Unified School District in California and served as the principal cellist for consecutive academic years. At the age of 11, he won an honorable mention in the String division for ages 11 to 13 at the Musical Arts Competition of Orange County. After he moved to Texas, as a seventh grader, he was honored to be selected as the principal cellist in the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) All-Region Middle School Chamber Orchestra. In 2024, he was selected as a first-place winner of the American Protégé International Concerto Competition. He is inspired by Bruno Philippe’s performances, and he finds valuable insights in Benjamin Zander’s interpretation classes. In addition to his musical interests, he has a strong interest in soccer, astrophysics and history.
