
Xuan Qin is an active clarinetist and chamber musician from China, she has performed in many cities in different countries and won several awards. Xuan has been chosen as a First Prize Winner of the 2023 “Golden Classical Music Awards” International Competition and invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2024. She was the finalist at the 2023 International Clarinet Association’s Research Competition in Denver, Colorado, and a recipient of the University of Hartford’s Graduate Travel Grants as well as the International Clarinet Association’s Travel Grants. Xuan recorded the album “Equinox” with Foot in the Door Contemporary Ensemble, released by Naxos, which is now available on Spotify since April 2023. Another album, “Heavy Weather” with Hartt Wind Ensemble, was released by Naxos in 2020. In February 2019, she performed in the College Band Directors National Association National Conference in Tempe, Arizona, with Foot in the Door Ensemble. In November 2015, she performed with Roberto Díaz, Lang Lang, and Lü Siqing at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
Ms. Xuan Qin is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree at The Hartt School, University of Hartford, studying with Ayako Oshima. Xuan received her Bachelor’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, studied with Fan, Lei. She holds a Master of Music degree from The Hartt School. Xuan has studied and worked with a variety of artists and ensembles, including Charles Neidich, David Shifrin, Wenzel Fuchs, Stephen Williamson, Ricardo Morales, Florent Héau, Andrew Simon, Harri Mäki, Gilda Lyons, Michael Daugherty, Marc Goldberg, the Shanghai Quartet, and the Verona Quartet.
