Yerang Kim has played piano since age 5 and violin since age 8, finding in music a lifelong form of self-expression. After moving to the US in fifth grade, she began competing at her teacher’s encouragement, earning her first gold medal at the 2019 Seattle International Piano Bach Festival. Yerang is a two-time American Protege International Competition winner, earning first prizes in both piano and violin and performing twice at Carnegie Hall. Her accolades also include gold medals at the 2022 Bach Festival, 2023 Virtuoso Festival, and the International French Music Competition, as well as multiple first prizes in the Charleston International Competition. A consistent awardee at national and international levels, Yerang is a three-time WMEA All-State Orchestra first violinist and has served as a concertmaster at her school.
She has completed RCM Level 10 Harmony & Counterpoint with Honors, showcasing her commitment to formal training alongside her competitive achievements. Furthermore, she is a global performer, presenting as a soloist in Music Fest Perugia, Victoria Hall, and Royal Albert Hall, sharing her repertoire with international audiences.
She finds joy and meaning in every note and phrase, using both her instruments to paint a world words cannot express. As she continues her musical journey, Yerang remains committed to refining her artistry, expanding her repertoire, and using music to bridge hearts across borders.
Outside of music, she enjoys walking her dog, figure skating, and starting each day with a smile.
