Thomas Zhu discovered his passion for classical music after attending his first symphony concert at age seven, beginning cello a year later. By 14, he had risen to principal cellist of the Shanghai International Youth Orchestra. Now at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, he leads the school’s Strings Ensemble, founded the student string quartet MASQ, and performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall at 17. He has earned positions in the PMEA Central Region Orchestra, attended New England Conservatory’s Summer Orchestra Institute. Thomas continues to pursue musical excellence, driven by a desire to share his passion with audiences worldwide.
