
Ying HAN. Pianist, Doctor of Musical Arts in the field of piano interpretation, teacher. The artist was born in 1993 in China. In 2007–2010, she studied at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music (Affiliated Secondary School) under the supervision of Prof. Yang Hu. In 2011, she was admitted – with very good results – to the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where her first professor was Alberto Nosé. In 2012–2017, she studied under the supervision of Maciej Gański, DMA, and completed her doctoral studies under Prof. Elżbieta Pasierowska, DMA. She has been developing her skills at master classes run by, among others, Volker Stenzl, Yaara Tal, Andreas Groethuysen, Bernd Goetzke, Monica Cattarossi, Maria Szwajger-Kułakowska. The pianist has performed both in Poland and abroad. She has participated in numerous music festivals as well as – as an accompanist – in international vocal competitions. The artist is regularly invited to art activities organised by the Chinese Consulate General in Gdańsk. Ying Han has been named one of the best Chinese students abroad by the consular authorities. In addition to her artistic and teaching activities, Ying Han has edited and translated a number of publications, e.g. she has translated Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń’s Master Courses into Chinese. The artist has also published some articles, including ‘Totentanz by Franz Liszt – In the Face of Performance’ (on commission of the Open Music Review website). Moreover, she is a jury member of the 1st All-Polish Instrumental Competition ‘Virtuoso!’ for pupils of primary and secondary music schools (2023). In 2022 she recorded a solo performance album of works from the I. J. Paderewski piano series, which was released worldwide in July 2023 by DUX Poland.
