Yizhen Sophia Zhu is 9 years old and she started learning to play piano with Ms. Ya Liu at the age of 5. She showed talent in music and has a passion to play great piano. She was solo evaluation winner of Utah in both 2021 and 2022 and won the 2nd place in the Young Artist Competition of the Sandy MTA Piano Festival in 2021; accelerated level 1st place winner of the 2022 Debose National Piano Competition; 3rd place winner in the Progressive Young Artist Competition of the Sandy MTA Piano Festival in 2022; the Level II 2nd place winner in the United States International Duo Piano Competition in 2023; accelerated level 2nd place winner of the 2023 Debose National Piano Competition; American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition 2nd place winner in the Young Musicians Category (Age 5 to 10) in 2023; Triumph Music Festival Academy of Music 1st prize winner in 2023; 5th World Piano Teachers Association Finland International Piano Competition Kids Category B silver award winner in 2023. Yizhen Sophia regularly plays piano at senior centers around the Salt Lake valley communities and her other interests include math, chess, reading and drawing.
