Yoon Lee is a student of John Kim in Bellevue and a junior at Lakeside School in Seattle, Washington, where he is the principal violist of the school orchestra and the chamber group. Yoon started violin with Hillary Castle in Manhattan at age six, and after moving to Seattle, he changed his primary instrument to viola six years ago. He has performed in masterclasses for Mimi Zweig (2018), Ann Setzer (2019), Piotr Milewski (2019), Michelle LaCourse (2021), Richard O’Neill (2018, 2021), Brenda Brenner, and Marilyn McDonald (2022). Yoon has played in youth ensembles across the country: Inter-school Orchestra in NYC, Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (2014-present), Marrowstone in the City (2017), and Boston University Tanglewood Institute (2021). Yoon has participated in the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival (2018 – 2022), WMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival (2020,2022), qualifying for the State Competition, NAfME All-NorthwestBach Festival(2021), WMEA All-State Orchestra(2022), Bach Festival and Classical Viennese Festival (2021), winning the 1st place in both, and American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition winning the 1st place(2022).
