Yoonseo Jung (15 years) was born in Seoul, South Korea, and started playing the piano when she was 6 under the guidance of Reiko Schoen. She has received numerous awards from music competitions, including 1st place at the Charleston International Music Competition, 2nd place at the American Protege International Competition (received invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall), 3rd place at the 2021 King’s Peak International Music Competition, 3rd place at the MAP-International Music Competition, and 1st place at the Illinois Federation of Music Clubs state piano concerto competition. Besides piano, she also has a great passion for violin; aside from receiving multiple awards at state levels, she performed as a soloist with the Southern Illinois Symphony Orchestra and served as a section leader of many orchestras. Apart from music, she loves to solve math problems. She received the Gold Medal at the 2021 American Mathematics Olympiad (international math competition for high school students) and uses her math skills to teach students in her community and across the state.
