Zabriel Rivers

Zabriel Rivers, countertenor, hails from Saint Helena Island, South Carolina. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music. A frequent winner at state and regional NATS competitions, Zabriel placed 1st in the ALANATS Competition, 1st at the South East Regional Competition, and earned 1st place in the Musical Division in the same year. Zabriel is a two-time winner at the Vann Vocal Institute Vocal Competition in Montgomery Alabama. He was subsequently invited to participate in David Cangelosi’s Masterclass series at Huntingdon College, where he was coached by Laurie Rogers, director of Young Artist Programs and the Head of Music Staff for Opera Saratoga in upstate New York. Zabriel holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Alabama State University, where he was selected as the 2019 Chair Scholarship Award. He was invited to perform a solo for the HBCU-9 Sesquicentennial Concert in Baltimore, Maryland. While at ASU, Zabriel sang the role of Zita in Gianni Schicchi. Zabriel is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity of America.
