
Chinese classical harpist, Zibin Zhou, is a student in Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where she is doing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree and under the tutelage of Doctor Gillian Benet Sella. Prior to this, Zibin Zhou graduated with a Master’s degree from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Minzu University of China, Beijing where she studied with China Film Orchestra principal harpist, Li Li.
As an orchestral musician, she has played with Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra, CCM Philharmonic, China Film Orchestra, the Central University for Nationalities Youth Orchestra. As a soloist, she has given recitals across Asia and America. In addition to being familiar with western works, Zibin is fascinated by the ever-growing repertoire of new harps and has even premiered many harp works by Chinese composers, has trying to perform with the reed-pipe, horse-head fiddle, dombra and other Chinese minority instruments. With a passion for community and a desire to share harp music, Zibin organizes recitals and popular events to bring music to people in the community.
During the summers, Zibin has attended and performed in music festivals such as the Chautauqua Music Festival, AHS summer institute and HarpMasters Academy.
