We started as a quartet in September of 2019 at the Duke University String School, and have been playing together for about a year and a half. At the string school we are involved in a special chamber program called the Duke Ciompi Collaborative where we are coached by a member of the Duke Ciompi Quartet along with a second coach who is a part of the string school’s staff. Last year we worked on movements 1, 2, & 4 of Death and the Maiden by Schubert. We also played the fourth movement of Dvorak’s American Quartet Quartet and the Holberg Suite by Grieg at an event with East Carolina University. In 2020, we had an opportunity to play an original composition by a student at the string school, but unfortunately could not due to the year being cut short. The piece we have most recently worked on is the Beethoven String Quartet No. 4, op. 18, in C minor, movements 1 & 2. The String School has been on a break since November, but we are excited to be starting again, in early March, when the weather begins to get warmer.
