The Spark Quartet members are talented musicians of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO) in Symphony (Jemimah Lee – Violin 1 and Claire Kim – Viola) and Young Artist (Joshua Hong – Violin 2, Hannah Phillippy – Cello). The quartet was formed for the Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA) district auditions for the Kingsview middle school they are currently attending together. The teen musicians bonded over countless self-coached rehearsals where they critiqued themselves to achieve a refined sound. They scored Superior ratings and high-praising remarks from the judge in February and they will be competing for State level in May, 2024. This is the first International Competition they are participating in as a quartet.
