Joel Lee
Joel Lee, a sophomore at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, has been playing the violin since age 9. Last year, he served as the assistant concertmaster in the Monta Vista string orchestra and is currently a member of the school’s Chamber Orchestra. He also volunteers with Almaden Youth Musicians, a non-profit organization, performing at senior centers and raising funds for charity through benefit concerts. In 2023, Joel earned 3rd place in both the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music and the San Francisco Innovative International Music Competition, as well as the gold prize in the Canadian International Music Competition.
Caleb Soohan Kim
I love playing the guitar. I first started with a steel string guitar, then switched to a classical guitar, and now I am studying both jazz and classical guitar. I really enjoy the sound of the guitar blending with the sounds of water, wind, and leaves rustling together. Playing the guitar enriches my life and teaches me how to connect with the world. Now, the guitar has become an important part of my life.
