
Jonathan Wong, Lian Cualoping, Adele Hsu and John Liu represent San Mateo, California’s Aragon High School’s only string quartet, specializing in late classical to romantic music.
Jonathan Wong, the quartet’s founder and first violin has been playing for 7 years under the direction of Quartet San Francisco’s Joseph Christianson. Wong is a first violinist in the Aragon Chamber Orchestra, as well as a Junior Officer for the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Chapter 3534. Wong also privately tutors the violin to younger students from elementary school to early high school.
Lian Cualoping, the quartet’s second violin, also plays in the Aragon Chamber Orchestra as the principle second violin. Cualoping is also the principle second violin for the Bay Area Youth Choir and Orchestra (BAYCO), and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Chapter 3534.
Adele Hsu, the quartet’s violist is both the principle chair viola for the Aragon Chamber Orchestra, and Peninsula Youth Orchestra (PYO) based in San Carlos. Hsu also serves as the president of the Aragon High School Chamber Orchestra Council, earning a spot as a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, Chapter 3534.
John Liu, the quartet’s cellist also studies the piano, earning a California Advanced Level Certificate of Merit for the piano. Liu is the principle chair cellist for the Aragon High School String Orchestra and BAYCO, as well as a cellist for the Villa Chamber Orchestra. Liu also made California All-State Orchestra in 2021.
