Hannah Choi, a sophmore at Centennial High School, began flute at age nine. She was a student at Ellicott Mills Middle School and Waterloo Elementary School. Hannah was selected for the Maryland All State Junior Band in both 2023 and 2024. A finalist in the 2024 Flute Society of Washington Junior Honors Competition, Ms. Choi won second prize at the 2024 Woodbridge Flute Choir Concerto Scholarship Competition. Hannah has been a member of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra-Concert Orchestra for the past two seasons. Last summer, Hannah attended the Flute Intensive at Interlochen Arts Academy.
A sophmore at Holton-Arms School, Eleanor Shi also attended Mount View Middle School and Waverly Elementary School. She performed with the Holton-Arms Chamber Orchestra at the 2024 Maryland Music Education Association Convention and in a side-by-side concert with the Oxford University Orchestra that highlighted Afghan music. Selected for Flute Society of Washington Mid-Atlantic Flute Choir, Ms. Shi performed with the flute choir at the FSW Mid Atlantic Flute Convention in February. Eleanor was selected for the Maryland All State Junior Band in both 2023 and 2024 and has been a member of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra-Concert Orchestra since 2022.
A Marriotts Ridge High School junior, Noelle Hahn attended Burleigh Manor Middle School and Northfield Elementary School. She is a member of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra after a season with BSYO Concert Orchestra. A finalist in the 2024 Flute Society of Washington Senior Honors Competition, she earned honorable mention in the 2024 U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition. In 2023, Noelle attended the Chamber Music Institute in Noreña, Spain and was a member of the Maryland All State Junior Band. Ms. Hahn was an honorable mention in both the 2023 BSYO Concerto Competition and 2023 Friday Morning Music Club Ross-Roberts Competition. During the summer, she attended the Advanced Flute Intensive at Interlochen Arts Academy.
Victoria Yao is a junior at Marriotts Ridge where she is active in the instrumental music program. She attended Mount View Middle School and Waverly Elementary School. Victoria auditioned for and was selected to perform with the Flute Society of Washington Mid-Atlantic High School Flute Choir. Ms. Yao rehearsed and performed with the flute choir at the recent FSW Convention. Victoria was also a member of the inaugural University of Maryland Honor Band this winter. Victoria spends her summers in hospitals helping patients and plans to pursue a career in medicine in the future.
