School Excellence Trophies

Overview

The School Excellence Trophy honors the top-performing elementary, middle, and high schools in the final round of each competition.

Schools with the highest combined student scores will be awarded a premium custom trophy to celebrate their musical excellence.

Eligibility

  • Schools must have at least two student performances entered in the final round of the same competition.
  • Each student must list their school’s official name when applying.
  • Students must be currently enrolled full-time in the school they represent.
  • Ensembles count as one performance, regardless of the number of members.
  • Schools must be located in the United States.

Scoring System

Each school earns points based on the final awards their students receive:

  • First Prize = 5 points
  • Second Prize = 4 points
  • Third Prize = 3 points
  • Fourth Prize = 2 points
  • Fifth Prize = 1 point

All points from individual and ensemble performances are added together to determine the school’s total score.

Tie-Breaker Policy

If two or more schools receive the same total numerical score, the tie will be broken at the judges’ discretion based on the overall quality of the performances.

Awards

One elementary school (grades K-5), one middle school (grades 6-8), and one high school (grades 9-12) will each receive a School Excellence Trophy.

Winners will also be recognized on the CIMC website and social media.
