About Karen Owyoung Wolff
Karen Wolff began piano studies at the age of seven and quickly developed a deep love for music, performance, and accompanying. She studied under renowned teacher Trula Whelan, who was recognized by President Reagan for producing many outstanding teachers and concert pianists. Under her mentorship, Karen developed a high level of pianistic artistry and earned awards in numerous piano competitions.
Karen entered Mills College on a full music scholarship and later earned her M.A. in Music from CSU East Bay. Her extensive musical background includes serving as a board member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, school music teacher, adjudicator, accompanist, and worship musician.
Known for her encouraging and engaging teaching style, Karen is passionate about helping students build strong musical foundations while developing confidence, artistry, and a lifelong love for music. She enjoys working with students of all ages and levels, creating lessons that are both challenging and inspiring. Many of her former students have gone on to become music teachers, professors, accompanists, and church musicians, while others simply carry with them a lasting appreciation for music and the joy of playing piano.
