About Natalia Kartashova

Dr. Natalia Kartashova, Ph.D., DMA, is a Russian-born concert pianist, laureate of numerous international piano competitions, internationally recognized educator, and founder of the Russian Academy of Music in Los Angeles. A graduate of the Gnessin Academy of Music and UCLA, she holds a DMA in Piano Performance and a Ph.D. in Psychology.

For twelve consecutive years, Dr. Kartashova’s students have earned First Prizes and top awards at national and international competitions worldwide, performing at such renowned venues as Carnegie Hall, Vienna Musikverein, La Scala, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, major concert halls in Berlin, and Paris Grand Opéra.

Her dissertation, Chronic Stage Anxiety Reexamined: An Integrative Approach for the 21st Century, became an important foundation of her teaching philosophy. Combining the traditions of the Russian piano school with performance psychology, Dr. Kartashova uses a highly individualized approach tailored to each student’s personality and psychological needs. Her teaching develops not only technical and artistic excellence, but also confidence, emotional resilience, and genuine freedom on stage.
