Biography:
Dr. Qian Zhong is a full-time First Violinist with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra since 2022. During the 2024–2025 academic year, she also served as Adjunct Professor of Violin at Frostburg State University, where she shared her experience with emerging professional musicians.
Prior to joining the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Zhong was frequently engaged as a regular substitute violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. Internationally, she previously held a tenured first-section position with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in China and also performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, demonstrating her broad orchestral experience across both American and international ensembles.
Dr. Zhong earned her Doctor of Music degree from the University of Maryland, where she studied with David Salness. She completed her Master of Music degree and Performance Diploma at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she studied under Mauricio Fuks, the world-renowned violinist and internationally acclaimed pedagogy mentor whose students hold major positions in leading orchestras worldwide.
A committed educator, Dr. Zhong maintains an active private studio of over 25 students. Many of her students are members of regional youth orchestras, regularly participate in international competitions, and have performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center as competition winners.
