About Ryota Ogishima
A graduate of Aichi Prefectural University of the Arts, he performed in the university’s Chamber Music Concert and Commencement Concert. He completed the Diploma Course at Tokyo Music & Media Arts Shobi (now Shobi College of Music), where he was selected to perform in the prestigious Fresh Concert.An accomplished competitor, he was recognized at the 5th Japan Ensemble Competition and advanced as a semifinalist at the 2nd Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition. He also won First Prize in the Wind Instruments Division at the 5th Romanian International Music Competition, where he was additionally honored with the Board of Directors Award from the Japan-Romania Music Association.As a versatile performer, he has appeared in major music festivals, including the Tokyo Spring Music Festival and La Folle Journée TOKYO. In 2015, he joined the nationwide tour of the Joe Hisaishi & World Dream Orchestra. He has collaborated closely with composer Joe Hisaishi, premiering the work “Single Track Music 1” and participating in the album recording of MinimalRhythm 2. Notably, he has also performed as a member of the renowned Saito Kinen Orchestra at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival.As a core member of the Vive! Saxophone Quartet, he has released five CDs under the Brain Music label, dedicating himself to expanding the repertoire for saxophone ensembles.He studied saxophone under Masato Kumoi and Kazuyuki Hayashida, and chamber music under Ryohei Nakagawa, Shiro Murata, Yoshiyuki Hattori, and Yasuhiro Itakura.Currently, he maintains an active career as a freelance saxophonist across solo, chamber, and orchestral settings, while also dedicating his time to mentoring the next generation of musicians.
