Biography:
Yuanyuan has been taking piano lessons since he was ten years old. He started out at Cary School of Music under Mr. John Hermann. There, he received several Superior ratings for his performances at their Piano Festivals. In addition, he placed 1st at the 2010 Young Artist Auditions held at William Peace University. During his time at high school, Yuanyuan studied further under Florence Ko. After graduating from high school, Yuanyuan went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he not only studied under Dr. John Salmon, but also graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2019. His prior experiences with his former instructors enabled Yuanyuan to develop a variety of ideas, methods, procedures, personalities, and strategies on how to get himself and his students motivated, engaged and satisfied with their lesson experiences.
In 2024, Yuanyuan debuted in the Charleston International Music Competition, where he currently placed 3rd in all of his piano competitions. As of 2026, Yuanyuan plans to enter another CIMC competition again, but has yet to decide which one he can enter.
Yuanyuan is currently a member of the Cary-Apex Piano Teachers Association, and is also a member of the National Music Teachers Association as of 2026.
