About Yulia Roubtsova
Pianist and educator Yulia Roubtsova holds a master’s degree from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory (Russia), where she studied music history, music theory, piano, and harpsichord. For ten years, Ms. Roubtsova taught music theory, ear training, music harmony, and music history at the Saint Petersburg Music Lyceum (the St. Petersburg Conservatory Prep Division).
Since moving to the United States in 2009, Yulia Roubtsova has established a reputation of excellence in both piano and music theory instruction. Working with the Royal Conservatory Method (Toronto) at the UNCSA Community Music School, where she founded the RCM curriculum program, Mrs. Roubtsova has helped many young musicians earn the highest honors in their RCM theory and piano examinations, including some who completed the entire theory curriculum by age thirteen. A number of her students were exempt from music theory studies in the top music schools. The RCM recognized her outstanding contribution to teaching music theory by naming Yulia Roubtsova the 2024 Teacher of Distinction.
Her piano students have won numerous prizes in local and statewide competitions. Most recently, her students participated in the Gijon International Piano Festival, the Atlantic Music Festival, the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute, and the UNCSA Summer Piano Intensive. Some of the graduates of Yulia’s Piano Studio were recently accepted to John J. Moores School of Music, UNCSA, and the Longy School of Music, among others.
Yulia Roubtsova is the director of St. Mary’s Music Academy in High Point, NC.
In 2024, Ms. Roubtsova joined the UNC School of the Arts faculty, where she now teaches keyboard harmony for pianists and organists.
