
Theo Anderson, 16, is a senior at Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY. He has studied piano for the past 10 years and currently trains with Max Vladimiroff at his studio in Brookfield, CT.
Theo has earned recognition in several prestigious competitions. In 2026, he received the Bronze Medal and Scholarship Award at the Young Maestro International Competition and First Prize at the NY Concert Festival International Competition. He has also been named First Place Winner of the Crescendo International Competition for three consecutive years, from 2024 through 2026.
A passionate interpreter of Romantic-era music, Theo’s most recent repertoire includes works by Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky. Among these composers, Sergei Rachmaninoff remains his favorite, inspiring both his musical artistry and continued development as a pianist.
In addition to his piano studies, Theo is an accomplished violist in the Hackley School Orchestra and is an active participant in the school’s chamber music program. His involvement in both solo and collaborative performance has helped cultivate a broad and versatile musical perspective.
Beyond performance, Theo is deeply interested in the intersection of music and history. He is currently engaged in interdisciplinary research exploring the role of music in the abolition movement, examining how musical expression contributed to social change and influenced public discourse during a pivotal period in American history.
