Zixuan Yang started playing piano when she was 5 years old, finding harmony in the midst of learning a new language and adjusting to a new culture. Her skills have improved drastically since the “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” days, and over the years, piano became more and more of a type of therapy. She has won several piano competitions, such as the Debose Piano Competition and the Salt Lake Piano Competition, and organizes service performances at senior living centers for both herself and her peers. Her musical training has also taught her resilience and the importance of consistency, as well as to strive for the best that she can do, which she applies to her academic endeavors and everyday experiences.
Watch Zixuan Yang perform Toccata by Antonio Tauriello on the piano for the 2026 World Music Competition as part of the Charleston International Music Competition.
